Cats have scent glands in their cheeks. Every time she rubs her face on a chair leg or a doorframe she is leaving a facial pheromone that marks the object as familiar and safe. SettleMist is a copy of that marker. Spray it on something new and it already carries the signal she would have put there herself, which is why she stops circling it and starts using it.
She circles a new bed for days without getting in. A few sprays on day one usually cuts that short.
Moving house wipes out every safe spot she had. This gives her familiar ground before the boxes are unpacked.
The carrier only ever appears before something she hates. Spraying it fifteen minutes ahead changes what it smells like.
A new or moved litter tray is a common reason cats stop using one. Marking it helps her accept the change.

How does a pheromone spray actually work?
Cats have scent glands in their cheeks. When your cat rubs her face on a chair leg or a doorframe she is leaving a facial pheromone behind, which is her way of marking that object as familiar and safe. SettleMist uses a synthetic analog of that same marker, the F3 fraction. Spraying it on something unfamiliar means the object already carries the signal she would have left there herself, so it reads as somewhere she has been before rather than somewhere new.
What are the ingredients?
Feline facial pheromone (F3) analog at 10%, lavender oil at 5%, in an ethanol base made up to 60ml. The ethanol is the carrier: it holds the scent in suspension and evaporates as the surface dries, which is why we ask you to leave it 15 minutes before your cat settles on it. Because it is alcohol based it is flammable, so keep it away from heat, sunlight and open flame, and do not smoke while using it.
When should I use it?
Any time her environment changes. A new bed she is circling but will not get into, a house move, a room she has been shut out of, the carrier before a vet trip, a new or relocated litter tray, or the arrival of a new pet, a baby or houseguests. It is also used ahead of predictable noise like fireworks and storms.
How much do I use, and how long does it last?
Four to six sprays on the surface from about 20cm away, then let it dry for around 15 minutes. Each application stays active for roughly four to five hours, so reapply through the day while she is settling in, or once daily when you are claiming a new spot for her. A 60ml bottle gives around 300 sprays.
Is it safe around my cat?
Yes, when used as directed. Spray the surface, never the animal, and let it dry fully before she settles on it. It is an alcohol based spray, so it is flammable and an eye irritant in the bottle: keep it away from heat and flame, avoid contact with eyes, and keep it out of reach of children. Once it has dried on the fabric the alcohol has evaporated and only the scent remains. If your cat has a diagnosed medical or behavioural condition, speak to your vet first. This is a scent product, not a medicine.
Will it stain my bedding or furniture?
It dries clear on plush, cotton and upholstery. As with any alcohol based spray, spot test a hidden corner first on dark or delicate fabric, and avoid saturating leather or untreated wood.
How quickly will I see a difference?
It varies between cats. Some investigate the sprayed spot within the hour, others take several days of repeat use before they commit to it. Cats are not on our schedule. If nothing has shifted after 30 days, message us and we will make it right.
Can I use it with the SnugDen?
That is the most common use. Most cats take a few days to claim a new bed, and a few sprays on day one usually shortens that. Spray the inside of the hood and the base, let it dry, then leave her to find it on her own rather than placing her in it.
How long does delivery take?

Can I return it?
Eligible unused items can be returned within 30 days under our Easy Returns policy. Change-of-mind return postage is paid by the customer. Faulty or not-as-described items are handled under Australian Consumer Law.
